New Challenges

I've been practicing with film photography since November of 2023. I've developed about half a dozen rolls, and I think I still have a long way to go before I can claim I know how to do film. I have been stockpiling new film stocks to try, and I now am starting to scan my own negatives. As time goes on, the quality of the images should improve, but for now, if they appear to be a muddy mess at times, it's more me trying to fine tune my process.

Ultramax 400

My final roll of Kodak UltraMAX 400 was the first of these latest rolls I had developed. I continued to experiment with subject matter, as well as adapting to my camera, the 7000i. I started working with the built-in light meter in the camera, to what I would say are mixed results. I think I will continue to use an external light meter to balance my shots exposure. Here are some of the better shots from that roll.

Highlight Shots

This shot I was waiting to take for weeks. This house was hidden behind a row of trees, so I didn't even know it was there for a really long time. When I was coming home, I just happened to look over, and catch a glimpse of the front of the house. The next day, I started looking for it, and by the following week, I found it. I pulled over into what was once its driveway, and got to the gate, where I snapped this shot.

I loved how the setting sun gave a nice warm glow on the aged siding, and you can see how the daylight is slowly fading out of the scene, covering the house in shadow.

This image is also special to me because I recently found out that this house had been completely demolished by the land owner, and nothing remains of this house anymore. I'm glad I got this shot when I did, otherwise, there would be no proof that it had existed.

Abandoned Ranch House | Shot on Kodak UltraMAX 400 with a Minolta 7000i

This was shot in my backyard one beautiful morning. I was getting ready for work, and I just happen to see the sun start to peek over the trees and create long shadows with the trees in my yard. Such a lovely image that morning.

Back Alley

I was working on getting the last few exposures finished up of the roll, so I walked up and down Main Street in downtown. As i was exploring, I found this back alley eating area for a restaurant on the street. The Painting and Lights would definitely have made this an interesting setting at night, but in the daytime, it gave abandoned vibes, which I immediately loved.

Your Love & Support

Thank you to everyone that has helped me on my photo journey. For those who've reached the end, and wish to help support me in some way, there is one. Below is a link to my print gallery, where you can get any of my photos as a print or download it for your devices. Any purchases you make helps keep this habit of mine going, especially with the cost of film being ridiculously high.
