Back on the Horse

It has been a good long while since I had been able to do a fashion shoot with a model. Lately, the opportunity to do shoots like this have been difficult to coordinate, time has not been something I have had an abundance of. Now that 2025 is here, it's time to pick up my camera and start to doing more professional and creative shoots, which hopefully will be the kickstart I need.

The Team

Bella reached out to me via Instagram, asking if we could collaborate and do a high fashion shoot, and she wanted to use a photographer local to the area. She also offered to do the shoot at a very unique location in South College Station

The Concept

The intent behind this shoot was to focus on form. Specifically, the form of the poses, trying to capture both the beauty of the model's form, as well as the outfit being worn. The key was angles, forming angles with her arms, legs and body when possible. The outfits were different enough that the venue could provide nice unique looks both indoors and out in the landscape.

The Shoot

This shoot turned out incredibly well. Bella was amazing, very responsive, and cooperative. We started out inside the building, working on a few interior based shots, but it wasn't until we got outside that the magic started to happen. The natural sunlight compliments her skin incredibly well, and as we kept working, and she saw how the shots were coming out, she really hit her stride and her personality started coming through.

Dynamic Black & White

As most of you know, I can't go without showing off the black & whites. These shots came out so incredibly well. Several will be making the portfolio, for sure.

A Few of My Favorites

The Office

The first shot, which was an absolute killer. Bella took the posing idea and made it hers, the office setting also does a lot to help her stand out. The part I think I like most is the strong contrast of the color of Bella's outfit and the primarily monochromatic earth tones of the background.

The Hair

This shot made the list because of Bella's eyes. Eyes are the windows into the soul, and I think her personality fully appeared at this shot. Another great element to this shot was the soft sunlight bouncing off the walkway enhancing the gold of her hair. Absolutely incredible shot, with the pose inspired by another shoot I had with Mackenzie back in Lubbock.

The Cowgirl

My absolute favorite shot of the entire photoshoot. I gave Bella the idea of a Texas spin on High Fashion, and she ran with it. We went outside and started getting some of that golden hour light before the sun hid behind the trees, and these shots speak for themselves. The outfit allowed the strong gold of her necklace sunglasses and hair to just pop. The color pops very nicely, and the pose does an incredible job of leading your eye back to the center of the shot. Finally, the little bit of attitude by having the glasses down gives the shot a nice bit of Texas attitude personified.

In Conclusion

I'm happy to say that I am working to make a comeback this year, and I have to say this was a strong first step in 2025. Bella was an exceptional model, and I am honored she chose to work with me to create this shoot. There are plans for more shoots, so don't be surprised if you see more content in the future.
