First Time in a While

It's crazy to think my family has not had a relaxation vacation in almost 2 years. Since my son was born, we have not been able to do any kind of large-scale travelling outside of our move to Central Texas. We were beyond excited to go to New Mexico and spend a week off of the regular routine and see new places and spend time with family. It's funny how I had visited Angel Fire multiple times since I was 3 years old, but I never actually photographed the area with my camera. I saw this as a great opportunity to expand my portfolio, and create memories with my family. Now, after coming home, and going through 900+ photos, I can happily say that it was an amazing trip, and totally worth all of the travelling.

Hidden in the Mountains

The weather was small rainstorms coming through the area, so the lighting jumped from overcast to bright shining sunlight every few minutes. It didn't stopped me though, I took photos of the mountains, the trees, as well as a good number of houses nestled throughout the mountain areas. It was an absolute blast taking photos while riding in the car, occasionally stopping to check out specific areas and get better shots.

Beautiful Country

New Mexico wasn't kidding when they brag about the beauty of their state. New Mexico has been one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited, with mountain backdrops, untamed forests, rushing rivers, and enormous canyons. Granted, there are several expansive flat areas, but if you look past that, there are some truly gorgeous areas in New Mexico.

I have always loved coming out here since I was a kid, and I don't think that will ever change. The best part now though, is that I get to show this place to my kids, so they can start forming memories of their own, as well as inspire their desire to travel. It's one of the coolest feelings being a dad getting to show my kids the world.

Looking Back

This trip was much needed in a couple areas. The main one being time with my family away from the grind of the day to day. The rest was definitely needed and enjoyed. The cooler temperatures wasn't too bad either, considering I had left Texas at temperatures of 95 and up with a heat index of 105, 110 even 115. Timing could not have been better.

The second area that this was needed was being the vast amount of photo opportunities I got from visiting all over the state of New Mexico. The photos in this are only from Day 1 of my time out there, and we were there over a week. I'll be releasing a post covering each day I was out there, and all of the cool photos I got to take.
